I don't like having to account for time as opposed to task because my normal path wanders between tasks and everyday interruptions like snack or email or phone or bathroom . The ability to deal with interruptions , taking simple notes or doing side calculations , or even defining a new word ( aka: function , verb ) was a motivation for the most primitive , 0th CoSy .
 Thus tapping F12 inserts a dayln at the cursor and F11 inserts a 24-hour time stamp as below .
CoSy provides ` Jobs ( files ) of simple text , typing paper , but in which a few function keys are defined to do various things : inserting date & time , F6 executing any line in CoSy array language ( including the Forth defining the system itself ) , or F8 starting a URL . Time is accounted in individual Jobs simply by appending asterisks to timestamps . The verb ` ONtimes extracts those timestamps and returns table of the times and the minutes between them , which can then be simply summed.
