    Unfortunately unedited .

I happened to buy Alan's book last spring
for about $7 at a discount book store on Nassau St because it had
an appendix on Black Body Radiation which I was interested to fill
some gaps in my understanding of the impossibility of Global Warming .

It is a very understandible book . The appendix showing that
gravitation is a negative energy is very clear .

18-19:30/ NY Academy of Science : Inflationary Cosmology and
                                       the Accelerating Universe
Origins: Life, Evolution, and Our Place in the Cosmos
Alan Guth, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
The hot big bang model describes the evolution of our universe, but it does
not describe the "bang" itself. It does not attempt to explain how the universe
came to be so uniform, or why it began so extraordinarily close to the critical
density. Guth will argue that the inflationary universe model provides
plausible answers to the questions, and even offers a possible explanation
for the origin of essentially all the matter and energy in the observed
universe. Recent observations of distant supernovae and the cosmic microwave
background radiation strongly suggest that the universe has a critical density
of energy, and that its expansion is accelerating. These observations have
radically altered our picture of the universe, but have also helped to confirm
the basic predictions of inflationary models.
     Registration required.

energy conserved because energy of gravitational field negative .
Inflation lasted ~ 1E-25 sec . Repulsive matter decays to normal matter to
     merge into BB theories .

Large scale background radiation temp uniform to 1 % 1E5 .
Are deviations of 1%1E3 due to earth movement .
300k year old date of creation of plasma to neutral gas -- light could
get somewhere . Would require 100 * speed of light spread of energy & info .
     Omega : ActualMassDensity % CriticalMassDensity

Starting in `98 , supernova observations seems to be accelerating .
H hubble constant not changed . distance has increased faster than
     acceleration .

Background radiaaton shows critical density , but only .3 crit dens

W/o acceleration , age of Universe estimated from expansion is a
little < age of oldest stars .

Hubble deep field subernova - looks like acceleration .

Einstein 1917 cosmological constant . Static universe not stable .
From particle physics : energy density of vacuum - positive energy
vacuum creates large Negative pressure .
even Einstein's blunders were pretty good .

Pressure as well as matter creates rupulsive grav force .

     By general relativity :
     CriticalDensity : ( 3 * H ^ 2 ) % 8 * Pi * G /
     H : HubbleConstant ; G : NewtonConstant

Vacuum energy density many contributions :
Quantup fluctuations of electric , magnetic , etc fields
     positive , divergent .

There is no shortest wavelength .

     minus electrons & positrons ( negatime , divergent )

     Super symetry not exact .

     Planck energy : Ep : ( h * c ^ 5 ) % G ) ^ % 2 : 1e19 gEv
     Ep ^ 4 ) % ( h * c ^ 3 )
120 orders of magnitude too large .

     inflationary paradigm looking good .

For particle physics , where would 1E-120 number come from ?
    /1940/

Qs : total energy 0 imply flat ? could be closed or flat .
neg energy source term - part of non-linear general rel .
Quantum mechanics in bio , same ? seems to .
Last few months : fine structure constant ( Guth's alarm clock went off )
Quasars ? no , not big enough effect .
12 mil light years away - back then or now ? mean look back time .
Universe size of marble not topologically flat ? currently observable
extrapolated back . Don't really mean flat , just locally flat .
O+ : Physics of consciousness - terror ? physics and science do play role
in world peace . rationalty international .
Bubbles ? sheets of nonuniformity - surfaces of colided spheres
Not surprizing .9 of universe missing because .9 of my stuff missing too :
may be varients vs constants . Inflation predicts creation of infinite
     universes . pocket universes .
