I got the thickness from a quick search which said common copy paper is 0.07 - 0.1 mm . I use virtually no paper myself , but picked up a bunch of legal crap I received . 41 pages 4.7mm . None of it written double sided .
I see very few documents which are written double sided .
Common file boxes are generally more ~ 18" , half a meter . That doubles the count again .
But more consequentially , I find it inconceivable that whatever info in on these paper records is not in .pdfs in various places , departments , etc . Virtually all of them must have either an external source or recipient . Their main value simply being the historical originals .

I used to consider pool an ultimate test of robot ai . I always figured on a stick on a rail around the table . But a guy has made a stick with an end which is aimed by computer ; you just have to get it near where you want to shot . There's a YT. It does have a camera looking straight down at the table .
More recently I've considered tennis . But BD may be close .
I tend to watch a lot of poker which has become a spectator sport since hole cams allow seeing the hands while the players can't . The randomness makes it something I would never want to play . But , I think it is an ultimate ai challenge not yet met .

I read the book last spring . I was most surprised that it mainly took place in Geneva with nothing further east than Ingolstadt Germany where he creates the monster while a student . And actually a good bit of the story takes place in Scotland & Ireland .
And I was surprised to see that the plot for " Bride of Frankenstein " really was a driving force in the story .
Finally , the book was written even before Faraday's work . There were no large sparking static machines like the Wimshurst generator until the 1880s , the Van de Graaff around 1930 . All there was were Volta & Galvani's experiments causing frog legs to twitch using batteries .
Overall , I did feel it read like a book written by an 18 year old girl .

A point I wanted to make versus your C frag was that it is just a bit of logic which needs a lot of apparatus around it to make into a usable word , particularly one which works on arbitrary size arrays like my couple of 1 liners .
