Dear Mr. Armstrong,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding oil and gas leasing provisions in the reconciliation package. We always appreciate hearing from Coloradans, as it helps us better represent our great state in the United States Senate.

We recently introduced the COMPETES Act, which would end non-competitive leasing and free more public lands for outdoor recreation and conservation. We are also proud to support Sen. Bennet’s Oil and Gas Bonding Reform and Orphaned Well Remediation Act, which would provide billions for well reclamation and reform federal bonding requirements to make sure that producers clean up their drilling sites in the future. Additionally, we cosponsored the Fair Returns for Public Lands Act would set a uniform federal royalty for new oil and gas leases at 18.75%.

As we move towards a clean energy future, we must protect our environment and the health of our communities. Please know we will keep your thoughts in mind as we review oil and gas leasing provisions within the reconciliation package.

We always value hearing directly from Coloradans and hope you will continue to share your thoughts as we work together for Colorado and our country. For more information about our priorities, please visit our website at www.hickenlooper.senate.gov. Again, thank you for reaching out.

Sincerely,

John Hickenlooper
United States Senator
