Campaign for Liberty

Bob,

The left won’t back down on nationalizing elections and crushing free speech in the process.

S. 1, the Legalized Election Theft bill, hit a speed bump in the Senate Rules Committee yesterday. After hours of sparring over amendments, the committee voted 9-9 along party lines.

Under normal circumstances, a tie vote would keep a bill from advancing, but S. 1 is far from dead.

Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), undeterred, is vowing to do whatever he can to move it to the floor.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, this will be an entirely partisan vote in front of the full Senate.

So why is the left fighting so hard to nationalize elections?

The 2020 election has certainly brought questionable election processes to the forefront, as audits and lawsuits at the county level continue in states like Arizona and Michigan.

While the results of these actions probably won’t be known for months, the left is making a big push to pass S. 1 BEFORE the public gets a sense of what can be proven about 2020.

For Schumer and his cohorts, the rush is on to get the Legalized Election Theft bill passed to President Biden’s desk despite massive opposition. They aren’t willing to consider that there may just be some issues with the integrity of our elections.

But this bill isn’t just about tilting the scales in elections, it’s also about controlling speech, which is a new obsession of the left.

Perhaps that’s why even the far-left ACLU came out against this same bill in a letter two years ago:

However, there are also provisions that unconstitutionally impinge on the free speech rights of American citizens and public interest organizations.

They will have the effect of harming our public discourse by silencing necessary voices that would otherwise speak out about the public issues of the day.

Majority Leader Schumer and Speaker Pelosi (D-CA), who already passed a version of this bill through the House, are recklessly pushing this bill into dangerous territory.

That’s why I am asking for your urgent action at once before we lose any more ground.

If you haven’t yet, please sign the petition demanding your U.S. Senators oppose S. 1 when it comes up for a vote!

If you’ve already signed, please send to friends and family who are concerned about election integrity and the First Amendment.

I would urge you to then please consider pitching in $35, $50, or even $150, to give Campaign for Liberty the resources we need to stop this brazen attempt to steal future elections!

If there is one bill in 2021 that could permanently scar the fabric of the Constitution, it’s H.R. 1/S. 1, which already passed the U.S. House.

This bill is loaded up with bad ideas, including:

>>Making it illegal to clean out voter rolls of deceased or non-residents;

>>Forcing states to allow early voting;

>>Forcing states to allow vote-by-mail, which is fraught with opportunities to commit fraud;

>>Forcing taxpayers to subsidize candidates they don’t align with politically; and

>>Policing online speech about elections with new broad and sweeping powers.

As unimaginable as this all sounds, we are getting much closer to this becoming a reality!

S. 1 not only institutionalizes many questionable election processes that were fraught with the most controversy in 2020, but it’s also a direct attack on the First Amendment and the right to dissenting political speech.

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell had plenty to say about S. 1 during yesterday’s Rules Committee hearing and afterwards:

“S. 1 would take the Federal Election Commission, the bipartisan panel that regulates elections and private citizens’ speech and make it a partisan body run by Democrats.

“It would let Washington Democrats act like a nationwide Board of Elections on steroids, neutering popular things like Voter I.D. and forcing legalized ballot harvesting onto all 50 states.

“This bill would let bureaucrats snoop around more in free speech … attack citizens’ privacy so dramatically that even the liberal ACLU is unhappy … and even send public funds directly to politicians!

In order to get S. 1 across the finish line, Democrat leadership is still threatening to weaken or eliminate the Senate filibuster.

In fact, the Biden Administration is making swift moves behind the scenes to defang or eliminate the Senate filibuster to pave the way for S. 1 to pass with a simple majority with Vice President Kamala Harris as the tie-breaking vote.

Bob, I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to undo the damages if the worst-case scenario happens.

The so-called “For the People Act” empowers federal regulators to categorize and regulate speech, including online.

Not only that, but merely telling you how your legislators voted on legislation could become a CRIME!

Sign the petition at once!

Our elections were never meant to be “nationalized” in this way. The U.S. Constitution clearly states that elections are to be held and electors for the presidential election chosen by the manner in which the state legislature prescribes.

S. 1 would completely turn this on its head and force states to adopt rules for their elections that many of them do not want or are in the process of remedying because of flaws they have discovered.

Considering the sidestepping of the Constitution on locally controlled elections and the attack on political speech, this bill should be opposed by all sides.

I am urging all members of the Senate to oppose this reckless bill, and I appreciate your support in doing so as well.
