About Us
The Institute for Energy Research (IER) is
a not-for-profit organization that conducts intensive research
and analysis on the functions, operations, and government
regulation of global energy markets. IER maintains that freely-functioning
energy markets provide the most efficient and effective solutions
to today's global energy and environmental challenges and,
as such, are critical to the well-being of individuals and
society.

DEAR
CONCERNED
ENERGY SUPPORTER,
In this time of financial uncertainty, could you ever imagine that the United
States government would consider a proposal to reduce household income, raise
energy prices and ship good paying American manufacturing jobs overseas?
Well, they have.
It is called the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act and it was already
considered earlier this year in the United States Senate.
Both independent and federal government studies alike have concluded that
the Lieberman-Warner bill – which will be considered again next year – would
have severe impacts on
jobs, household income, gasoline and home-heating prices, and cost taxpayers
trillions of dollars. All of this for little, if any, environmental benefit.
I encourage you to learn more about the current issues surrounding the Global
Warming debate and find out the true
cost of climate legislation in your state by clicking on the interactive
presentations below.
Thanks,
Tom Pyle
