I will only comment that I think one of the saddest casualties of the civil rights era was the success of the extremists in destroying the perfectly respectable and precise words "Negro" and "Colored" leaving only the extremes , "black" and "white" , in terms of which they define the world . The "The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People" and "The United Negro College Fund" have almost defiantly maintained the dignity of those adjectives . Our society is the poorer for this particular success of racism . What stupidity that "brown" , "chocolate" , "cafe au lait" ,= much less "high yellow" must be said with a hesitancy that they= might offend . "A light skinned black guy" is better ?
