 Obviously the energy in the higher orbit is higher but Gary's=
 spring
 analogy's got a totally wrong law . Kepler's equation , ( T ^ 2=
 ) is
 proportional to ( R ^ 2 ) rules of course . But if I attack it=
 again 
 I want to understand it in terms of orbital energy .

 The comment about angular momentum being preserved is , of=

 profound . The speeding up of the moon will just balance the=
 slowing
 of the earth . Basically I don't think that is a hell of a lot=

 It's interesting that if you imagine a universe with just one=
 atom
 in it , obviously there is no reference by which to decide if=
 it
 is spinning . But as soon as there are more than one , you can=
 say
 absolutely that it is spinning , not the universe .

 I wondered where this topic came from myself and resisted=
 getting
 involved . Perhaps it's because of a recent Discovery or one of=

 channel's program on the topic recently .

 I think what's sad is that none of us in this elite group have=
 a
 firm grasp on three hundred year old understanding of such=
 basics
 of our existence .
