Subject: mermaid parade: < 24-hour countdown :-) Date: Fri, 20 Jun 2003 13:06:28 -0400 To: James Lesczynski From: Bonnie Cool! Phew! I thought I was going to have to get the car inspected for Mom for her to drive it Saturday, and that was looking IMPOSSIBLE! (Plans A-D not working out.) Even with the inspection, I couldn't drive it in NYC: I already know that they will tow me somewhere far away in another boro for two overdue tix! :-( Luckily, they just live 1/4 mile from CT, and that's the only place Mom's going Saturday. She doesn't mind flouting the law that little bit--it's pretty safe--so the plans to switch cars with her is still on. :-) SO, my ETD from HERE is about an hour or two, I'd say. I hope! 1st stop: Carmel, doing decoration preparation at my sister's and dinner w/Mom and Dad. (They were heading up there anyway, and I'm dropping off the KITTIES for the weekend--I might even leave them there for a few more days and head to NH for the 23rd-24th or so! Roadtrip, anyone?) 2nd stop: South Salem, for the night Sat. AM: have the parents wake me up and throw me out the door at 8:15 :-); take Mom's car and some petty cash ;-) PLUS all the decorations, filled water balloons, and extra water in gallon jugs, to pick up Nic around 9:15, heading thereafter to Coney Island. Get in place in the waiting zone around 10 to 10:30, decorate the car, await the Mermaid Militia. :-) After that: I PROMISED Mom that the car would be in a garage when we leave it alone...and I'm planning to go to Brighton Beach to "Primorski" for dinner, if anyone else is interested. I'll be driving--room for five, total, including driver. :-) If anyone has a FIFE, please bring it. Extra people, if we had them: fife and drum corps, color guard, etc. We'll keep doing this every year, I hope. :-) Funnels DON'T work to fill the balloons. They MIGHT for the guns...if you have anything handy, grab it and bring it. E.g., a turkey baster without the bulb looks about right for rapid reloading. (Not that we'll be squirting a whole lot of people, but we need to drill! :-) See ya soon... Jim has my number at my parents', which might be the only way you can reach me. Make sure I have Nic's home number sent to me tonight, OK? In case something goes wrong (it won't!) Thanks, Bonnie
