 I really dislike propagating these threads which bog in
 detail while evading the clear central observation .

 Establishment of particular religions by various geographical
 monopolies has been the pretext over the centuries for=
 horrendous
 suppression of various populations and subsequent decades of war=
 .
 That observation was so well understood by our founders two
 centuries ago that they explicitly rejected it with very=
 general
 language in the very first clause of the addendum to the treaty
 forming our federation . 

 The Animal Farm rule justifying the creation of Israel ( and
 similarly Pakistan ) in the breakup of the British Empire after
 World War 2 has had the same predictable consequence ( in both
 cases ) . Nehru thought such division was anachronistic and it
 should have been .

 And , yes , the brutal subjugation of the population of the
 lands Israel annexed in its preemptive 1967 war ( in which
 incidentally they attacked and sank the US surveillance ship
 the USS Liberty ) to defend their state which had been founded
 on such a proven bad idea  has been the shame of the western
 world .

 For all its faults , the US has not , so far as I know , ever
 attempted in the last century to similarly subjugate the=
 peoples
 of a territory it has conquered . To do so would have been a
 profound denial of the primacy of individual property rights 
 over those of the State .
